Lichenicolous basidiomycete. Photographs on Ramalina fastigiata

Parasitic on the thalli and apothecia of Ramalina species, including Ramalina canariensis, R. cuspidata and R. fastigiata.

Gall-like swellings form on the host thallus or apothecia. The swellings are waxy-gelatinous in texture, usually irregular in shape and pale brown to blackish when mature. Basidia 2-celled, with one longitudinal or rarely oblique septum, 10.5-15.5 µm in diameter. Micrograph below.

Similar: Tremella ramalinae has pyriform, (3-)4-celled basidia
