Scattered but local distribution on calcareous rocks

Very similar to Diplotomma alboatrum but the thallus can sometimes be pale brownish rather than white. The prothallus is usually absent or inconspicuous but thin and greyish at the junction of different colonies. Spores are 3-septate, 14-21 x 6-11 µm, do not become muriform, and are more frequently curved. Micrographs below.
