Chemical results: Thallus K-, C-, KC-, P+ red, UV-

Widespread, can be locally common on spoil heaps, in drystone walls and rocky crevices and on drier heaths.

Basal squamules entire or with shallow, rounded lobes, white below, upper surfaces bluish-grey when fresh. Podetia with regular scyphi, +/- abruptly tapered to stalk with 2-5 proliferating tiers arising from centre of scyphus.
