Basal squamules entire or with shallow, rounded lobes, white below, upper surfaces bluish-grey when fresh. Podetia with regular scyphi, +/- abruptly tapered to stalk with 2-5 proliferating tiers arising from centre of scyphus. Similar: Cladonia cervicornis ssp cervicornis
