Growth type crustose
Chemical reactions: K- (Caloplaca species are K+ red)

Common on nutrient-enriched tree trunks, branches and wood and on tree bases in the 'canine zone'.

Thallus of scattered or contiguous yellow or yellowish-green granules or minute squamules. The bright yellow soredia can form a continuous crust. Apothecia are very rare, spores 10-15 x 4-6 µm.

Similar: C. vitellina, soredia absent. Caloplaca citrina agg, K+ crimson
